The Indian Express is reporting on a changing trend among young Indians entering the world of work. Private companies are raising hopes of a quality job and better livelihood, marking a turnaround for this generation’s employment preferences.
However, youth unemployment remains too high to accommodate these aspirations, as Sabina Dewan, President and Executive Director of JustJobs Network, summarizes the labour market situation. She also recalls that those in active search of a job face grave difficulties due to inadequate education and/or vocational training. The challenge of creating more AND better jobs thus remains a pressing one.
